A DESIRE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE "I firmly believe my mission in life is to constantly help others create happiness in their lives and abundant health through chiropractic care, nutrition, and acupuncture. I know that, as a chiropractor, I am fulfilling my mission as I work to positively touch the lives of everybody I come in contact with, helping to secure a healthy, drug-free future for generations to come." Dr. Heather holds a special place in her heart for the importance of family chiropractic care. She knows that the strength of our future is dependent on the health and quality of life of our children. Dr. Heather thinks family health is so important that she has established special family care plans to offset the rising costs of modern health care. A SOLID EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Come from a family whose approach to health was a holistic one. We would go to the chiropractor for regular care and took natural supplements to prevent illness and promote wellness. From a young age, I saw the benefit of chiropractic. Additionally, I experienced the profound healing power of chiropractic first hand when, at the age of fourteen I broke my back racing motocross. I was in the hospital for a week and was instructed to wear a brace to restrict my movements for six months. As soon as the brace was off I went to my local chiropractor and was adjusted. At the time, all I knew was that it made me feel better and that reason alone was worth the visit. Today I understand that chiropractic offers more than initial pain relief, it is an important part of a wellness lifestyle. Regular visits and with regular chiropractic care, exercise, and good nutrition you give your body the tools it needs to be healthy and stay healthy. I met Dr. Heather during our training for Pregnancy and Pediatric fellowship and really enjoyed hearing about the outstanding practice she had. So when I had the opportunity to join a practice that had the same passions and mission to help children and mothers-to-be, I didnÂ't have to think twice. As a child of chiropractic care myself, I enjoy having the opportunity to work with children; watching them as they grow and caring for them at every stage. For me, chiropractic is not only a career but a lifestyle. I love that I have the chance every day to help someone work with their own body to heal using natural methods-in a natural way!

Hi, my name is Cathy Perkins and I'm the massage therapist at Yost Family Chiropractic. I am originally from Michigan and moved to Iowa in 1993. I have two grown children, Ben-26 and Emily-23. I have been married to my husband, Mike, for 30 years this July, 2008. My passion is to live a conscious life and support others to do the same. I love running, walking, yoga, reading, and romantic movies. Some of the things I've accomplished are...... completing two marathons and walking on fire (twice)..... without getting burned! I went to Massage School in 1998, at the College of Massage and Healing Arts Center in Des Moines. Prior to massage school, I was in retail management. After 10 years of this, I realized that I had to make a change, because I found myself experiencing anxiety. At massage school, I learned various massage techniques and went to many other workshops, learning why I experienced anxiety and how to live a conscious life. I am proud to say, I no longer suffer from anxiety and continue to practice being, not only a conscious practitioner, but a conscious mother, wife, sister, daughter and friend. I specialize in pregnancy massage, chair massage and sports massage. I am a Reiki Master Practitioner and Unlimited Breath Practitioner. In addition, I teach pregnancy, chair and events sports massage at the College of Massage and Healing Arts Center . I am excited about joining this wonderful team of professionals at Yost Family Chiropractic. Massage is a great addition to Chiropractic care and our philosophies are a great match. At Yost Family Chiropractic, we want the best for our patients in all aspects and are continually working on self-improvement. Leading by example is the most powerful form of leadership and also the best way to teach others. I believe in practicing what I preach.
